SASSA September 2025 Grant Payment Dates Updated: See Your New Schedule Here

In an attempt to enhance payment efficiency for more than 19 million beneficiaries, the South African Social Security Agency released the revised payment schedule for the month of September 2025. Adjusting the days was seen to advantage the prompt payment of these grants, reduce congestion at cash points, and provide convenience for recipients to withdraw their respective grants for Old Age, Disability, Child Support, and SRD. Below is a confirmed schedule together with the amounts payable and some recommendations to ease the payments.

Confirmed Payment Dates for September 2025

The dates were adjusted in September 2025, putting an emphasis on vulnerable groups and going toward reducing any congestion at the pay points:

  • Older Persons Grant: Tuesday 2 September 2025
  • Disability Grant: Wednesday 3 September 2025
  • Child Support, Foster Child, and Care Dependency Grants: Thursday 4 September 2025
  • SRD Grant (R370): Between 23 and 30 September (Date varies, check status)

If the beneficiaries do not withdraw their cash immediately, it will remain in their account for a maximum of seven days. This implies those beneficiaries will not have to rush to withdraw their money on the day of payment.

Payroll for the Month of September 2025

To continue the smooth disbursement of funds, payment dates will be staggered throughout the month of September 2025.

  • Old Age Grant: 02nd September 2025, Tuesday
  • Disability Grant: 03rd September 2025, Wednesday
  • Child Support, Foster Child and Care Dependency Grants: 04th September 2025, Thursday
  • SRD Grant: 23rd to 30th of September 2025 (To be confirmed)

Since the date for the SRD grant payments may change, every beneficiary should keep checking the status and payment window so that they never fall behind on the payments.

Grant Amounts for 2025

SASSA pays the following grants, which were adjusted in April 2025:

  • Old-Age Grant (Persons 60-74): R2,315
  • Old-Age Grant (Persons 75 and older): R2,335
  • Disability Grant: R2,315
  • Child Support Grant: R560
  • Foster Child Grant: R1,250
  • Care Dependency Grant: R2,315
  • War Veterans Grant: R2,335
  • Grant-in-aid: R560
  • SRD Grant: R370.

This is considered to be rather significant if R284.7 billion is spread toward bursaries for the very basic needs of millions of households.

A Stipulating Cause for the Change

This scheduling change intended to avoid the huge pressure and, hence, delays at various ATMs and other retail supermarkets-withstanding, SASSA gave full attention to the poor. Toward the end of 2024, delays in payments were due to backlogs of verification; disruptions of this kind had to be avoided. Hence, now with fully remastered digital systems coupled with the multiplication of deputies to send SMSes to notify the beneficiaries of pickup availability, the payments must go without a hitch.

How Does One Check For Payment Status?

The same method of interrogation can also be used for inquiring about the grant status or payment date. Therefore:

  • Online: Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and fill in your ID and phone number to check your status.
  • WhatsApp: Send a WhatsApp message to 082 046 8553 with your ID and phone details.

  • Call Centre: Call 0800 60 10 11 for self-help or for assistance.

In case it says Pending or Declined, you would be able to appeal or update your information at srd.dsd.gov.za/appeals within 90 days from when your status changed.

Recommendations to Beneficiaries

Make sure you enter the correct bank details; late payments are common if such information is inaccurate.

  • A withdrawal must be made in seven days without fail or it will be reversed.
  • If you think some deductions are made illegally, report them by calling the Sassa helpline.
  • Do not allow anyone to use your card and never share your PIN with anyone to prevent fraud.
