Kaizer Chiefs Injury Report: McCarthy, Ighodaro, Shinga, And Cross Status

While preparing for the matches in the Betway Premiership against Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs have other burning issues to settle, particularly the injuries and illnesses of their important players. The fitness of the players not only affects their training but also impacts the entire team, as is shown in the fitness updates of the players shared by assistant coach Cedric Kaze.

The Injury of Aden McCarthy Is Alarming

Defender Aden McCarthy suffered an injury during our win over Richards Bay and will also be absent for the upcoming training sessions. Having sustained an injury to McCarthy’s leg, he has a great deal of strain on him and the medical team is striving to rehabilitate him. While there is an attempt to get him to participate, I believe there is very little chance of him doing so.

The Missing Etiosa Ighodaro

Etiosa Ighodaro, a striker who joined Chiefs from Sundowns in the 2025/26 PSL window, will miss the match against his former team due to injuries sustained in training, as assistant coach Kaze has indicated. Kaze also mentioned that Ighodaro got injured two days ahead of the game and will not be able to take part because of that.

Bradley Cross and Nkanyiso Shinga Down Due to Illness

Illness has also made disabled defenders Bradley Cross and Nkanyiso Shinga. In recent days, they have both been unable to play. Although their illnesses are being kept under review, they are unlikely to play in the Sundowns game.

Flavio Silva Cleared to Play

In other developments, new recruit Flavio Silva has been cleared internationally and is thus eligible to play. He strengthens the squad, giving coach Kaze more strategic options, especially with the other players absent.
