This article provides information on how payments are made and how to check the status of your SASSA Foster Child Grant.

Short Description O The Foster Child Grant

The Foster Child Grant is intended for foster parents appointed by courts to take care of children under 18 years whose parents are either dead, abandoned, or at risk. Effective from the 1st of April 2025, the amount is fixed at R1,250 per month for a child, an amount which will assist with basic needs like food, clothing, and education for the child. The payments will begin on 5 September 2025 as part of SASSA’s staggered payment arrangement that is intended to keep pay points from getting overcrowded.

Why Check Your Payment Status?

To verify whether your SASSA Grant Application was approved, banking details verified, and payment has been scheduled. Most common reasons for delays in being paid are an un-updated contact number and pending verifications.
